The
Lions Club of Ku-ring-gai was chartered in 1954 and celebrated its
55th anniversary on 22nd September 2009. Of the original 25 charter
members, 1 is still active today, 55 years later. We currently have
30 members. Our club is open to both men and women, and has a broad
range of occupations, and nationalities and ages.
While we are called the Lions Club of Ku-ring-gai Inc, there is
one other Lions club in Ku-ring-gai. As we are the oldest, we still
have this title. Our area of operation can thus overlap with the
Lions Club of St Ives. Ku-ring-gai covers the suburbs of Roseville,
Lindfield, Killara, Gordon, Turramurra, St Ives and Wahroonga. It
is one of the bigger municipal areas in Sydney, and comprises mostly
very leafy suburbs along the rail line from Chatswood to Hornsby.
